Peru Inca Trail

Booking & Cancellation Terms

By booking or taking part in a trek, tour or related service (a “Tour”) with Peru Inca Trail, a brand of Bamba Travel Inc, a company registered in the United States, operated locally by our team in Cusco, Peru (“Peru Inca Trail”, “we” or the “Tour Operator”), you agree to these Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”).

Booking

  1. Your booking is confirmed, and a contract exists, once we issue a written confirmation after receiving the applicable payment. Please check your confirmation carefully and tell us immediately about any incorrect or incomplete information. Names must be written exactly as they appear in each hiker’s passport.
  2. For treks starting 61 days or more after the booking date, you may pay a 30% deposit per person. The deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances.
  3. The remaining balance is due 60 days before your start date. We email you a secure payment link for the balance; if it is not paid by the due date we may cancel the booking and the deposit is forfeited.
  4. For treks starting 60 days or less after the booking date, full payment is required at the time of booking.
  5. You must show the original passport (not a copy) you booked with at the Inca Trail checkpoint. If you renew your passport after booking, bring both the expired and the new passport, otherwise entry may be refused.
  6. Student discounts require a valid university card whose expiry date falls in the same year as the trek, as required by the Peruvian government. A copy must be sent at the time of booking.

Cancellations

  1. Deposits are 100% non-refundable. If you cancel for any reason, further charges apply as your start date approaches. We cannot make exceptions (including medical notes), because permits, trains, entrance tickets and crew bookings are non-refundable to us.

Once booked, deposits are non-refundable. The chart below shows further amounts due:

Inca Trail permits

  1. Inca Trail permits are issued in each hiker’s name and cannot be transferred to anyone else. Once a permit is purchased, dates cannot be changed. Permits are non-refundable and non-transferable, and the deposit is forfeited. This is a regulation of the Peruvian government, not of Peru Inca Trail or any agency.
  2. If the Inca Trail is closed for safety reasons, we will replace your trek with an alternative trek.
  3. Hikers who booked a permit with a student ID must carry that ID on the trek; park rangers will refuse entry without it.
  4. The Inca Trail is closed every February for maintenance.

Medical information

  1. You must tell us about any medical conditions or allergies. You need to be in good physical health; if in doubt, consult a doctor. Hikers over 70 must provide a current medical certificate of good health.
  2. You are responsible for judging whether a Tour is suitable for you, including your fitness, vaccinations and medical precautions. We do not provide medical advice.
  3. We may refuse participation in any part of a Tour, at your own risk and expense, if we judge that your physical or mental condition makes you unfit to travel or a danger to yourself or others.
  4. Pregnancy must be disclosed at the time of booking. We may refuse to take pregnant travellers over 24 weeks, or anyone with a medical condition where reasonable accommodation cannot be arranged.
  5. We strongly recommend travel insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation and trip cancellation.
